Why Isn't My Camera Charging with the Solar Panel?

Quick answer: Please check whether the connection between the camera power port and the solar panel is loose, and make sure the solar panel is installed in a location with enough direct sunlight. If the connection and installation location are correct but the camera still does not charge, the camera battery or solar panel may be damaged.

1. Check the Solar Panel Connection

First, make sure the solar panel cable is firmly connected to the camera's power port. A loose or incomplete connection may prevent the solar panel from charging the camera properly.

Please check the following:

The solar panel plug is fully inserted into the camera power port.
The cable is not loose, bent, broken, or damaged.
The camera charging port is clean and not blocked by dust or debris.
The waterproof cover or connector is fitted correctly after installation.

2. Make Sure the Solar Panel Gets Enough Sunlight

The solar panel needs sufficient sunlight to charge the camera battery. If the panel is installed in a shaded area, under a roof, behind trees, or facing the wrong direction, charging may be weak or unstable.

For better charging performance:

Install the solar panel in a place with direct sunlight.
Avoid shade from walls, trees, roofs, fences, or other objects.
Adjust the panel angle so it faces the sun as much as possible.
Clean the solar panel surface if it is covered by dust, leaves, snow, or dirt.

Note: Solar charging speed can be affected by cloudy weather, rainy days, winter sunlight, and the camera's power usage. If the camera is triggered very often, the battery may drain faster than the solar panel can recharge it.

3. Test Whether the Camera Can Charge Normally

If possible, charge the camera with a compatible power adapter to check whether the camera battery can still charge normally. This helps confirm whether the issue is related to the solar panel, the cable connection, or the camera battery.

Important: If the camera can charge with a power adapter but not with the solar panel, the solar panel or its cable may have a problem. If the camera cannot charge by any method, the camera battery or charging port may need further inspection.

4. When to Contact Support

If the solar panel connection is secure and the panel is installed in a sunny location, but the camera still does not charge, the camera battery or the solar panel may be damaged.
